Article #314 - Overriding the AS/400 printer file
Updated:02-18-2006 - Views: 472
Overriding the AS/400 printer file is useful when you want to temporarily make changes to an attribute or parameter of the print file. Host print screens for example are sent to the system printer by default, overriding the printer file will allow you to redirect the output to another desired printer. Use the following command to accomplish the override:

ovrprtf qsysprt outq(prtxx)

If using a different printer file than qsysprt, specify the correct file name. Prtxx will be replaced by the name of your printer.

This override will only be temporary. As soon as you signoff of your display the override will be removed. This override only affects the specific session the command is run from. Other sessions on a multiple session terminal are not affected.
