Special notes for I-O AFP/IPDS Print Servers ============================================= I-O AFP/IPDS Print Servers are available in three models -- the first two models are oriented towards AS/400 IPDS printing and are both called the I-O 5435. The two models differ only in the amount of RAM. Models produced prior to July 1, 2000 are equipped with 4 MB RAM while models produced after July 1, 2000 are equipped with 8 MB RAM. The third model is oriented toward IPDS and TN3270e printing from IBM Mainframe systems and is identified as the I-O 5435e. To ensure that you download the proper bootcode and firmware for each of these models, see the following chart: I-O 5435 (4 MB) Bootcode = B5435???.exe Firmware = F5435???.exe I-O 5435 (8 MB) Bootcode = B5x35???.exe Firmware = F5x35???.exe I-O 5435e Bootcode = B5e35???.exe Firmware = F5e35???.exe The ??? represents the version number. Generally you would want to download the most recent release. The latest release of the PrintControl utility (named PCU???.exe) will support all previous versions of bootcode and firmware on all I-O Print Servers. If you should attempt to download bootcode or firmware different than the specific model of print server, you could cause a lockup condition that can only be cleared by shipping the print server back to I-O Corporation. Therefore, be very careful to match the right bootcode and firmware with your print server.
