Which Firmware Version to use for Upgrades

To upgrade a print server's firmware, you will need to determine what the current 
firmware version is.  This is important because firmware upgrades must be kept 
within the same series (V1.41 to V1.43, not V1.41 to V2.45).  

For example, a 5435e with a firmware version of 1.41 can only be upgraded with 
firmware versions in the 1.xx series (such as 1.43).  If the wrong firmware is 
applied, the print server could be damaged requiring the unit to be returned 
to I-O for repair.  

There are four methods that can be used to determine what is the current 
firmware version:
  
1.  Print the print server's configuration report -- the "software" 
version is found on the third line.

2.  Using the PrintControl utility -- After you have double clicked on 
the desired print server from the List of Print Servers, you will be 
presented with the Print Server Information screen.  On the right side 
in the Object Information panel, you will find the "Firmware Revision" number.

3.  Check the color of the network link and activity LEDs on the side of 
the print server. If both are green, then use version 1.xx.  If one is 
green and the other is yellow, use version 2.xx

4.  The serial number of the print server.  See the table below.

The following table lists the current firmware versions for each LAN Print 
Server model, the version to upgrade to, and hints on selecting the right 
version using the color of the LEDs and serial number:
